James Deane announced that he returns to the Formula Drift championship for 2023! Irishman won FD three times in a row – from 2017 to 2019.

James Deane will drive the left-hand Ford Mustang with a naturally aspirated engine. Irishman loves his Nissan S14.9 with turbocharged six-cylinder 2JZ engine, so he must adapt his driving style.
The wheelbase of the S14 is 2525 mm (99.41 inches).
S650 Mustang is 2718 mm (107 inches).
James also has BMW E92 Eurofighter – 2760 mm (108.66 inches).
The news is finally out! I am super excited to announce that we are joining forces with the RTR Motorsports Team to compete in this years Formula Drift Championship in a brand new Ford Mustang RTR Spec 5-FD. James Deane has established himself as one of the fastest – growing personalities in the sport and boasts the largest following of any Irish motorsport personality in the world. James began his competitive drift career in 2006 behind the wheel of a Ford Sierra in the Prodrift Junior Championship and in 2023 he is again behind the wheel of a Ford only this time it is a Mustang RTR Spec 5-FD in Formula Drift with 1,111 horsepower.
James makes his Formula Drift return, the world’s premiere drift series, after a three-year hiatus from the series which saw him take home the Championship in three consecutive seasons (2017, 2018, 2019). However, during his hiatus from US drifting he was no stranger to winning, taking first at the DriftNeu North Cyprus Championship Finals, Goodwood Festival of Speed Driftkhana competition, the LZ Festival Mondello Park, multiple podiums in the Drift Masters European Championship and that’s just 2022.
As 2023 gets underway James will be in pursuit of a record setting 4th Formula Drift Championship and 3rd for RTR Motorsports.
