World’s 1st manual C8 Corvette drift car (pt. 23)

The four-time Formula Drift event winner Matt Field introduces Worl’s 1st Manual C8 Corvette drift car.

In an effort to get the C8 sent off to paint, there’s a long list of things we need to tackle throughout the entire car. First we start off with mounting the oil cooler with a custom channel that makes installation and any servicing much easier to do. Once that’s put in, Alec made some tabs, so we can get the mount in the carbon fiber roof in place. Next on the list was getting the exterior door handles mocked up and added to each side. These are what we use on the current C6 race car. In order to get the windshield added, I needed to get a center brace mounted to make sure it stayed rock solid. While I did that, Alec tackled the center console with a custom carbon fiber plate and a custom 4×4 inch box tube of carbon fiber to cover the shift cables. Before we could get the MOMO seatbelts in, I worked on getting the custom eyelets welded to the chassis. We wrapped up this episode with Alec trimming and adding the poly carbonate rear window, which turned out awesome!
