Qualification

The winning number of qualifying seemed to be 84: three different drivers scored 84 points. Polish madman Michal Wojtan took the victory with a rocket-bunny Nissan S13 2JZ, scoring 81 on his second lap. The ‘Black Mamba’ Nissan 350Z with Pavel Hudecek behind the steering wheel finished second, while Zdenek Kaderabek—driving a 2JZ-powered BMW E46—got third place.

Competition

To everyone’s biggest surprise, the final battle happened between 2 naturally aspirated V8-engined cars: Marko Hucko steered his old-school BMW E30 M157 Baur pick-up, to the top of the podium after winning over János Onódi, pilot of an LS-swapped BMW E36. Pavel Hudecek from Czechia could take the trophy for third place.

Tamás Magyar finished 4th overall thus he was the best Hungarian driver of the day.

Tamás stated, “We had an absolutely amazing day here at Slovakia Ring. We really enjoyed it. The car was working perfectly, and I managed to finish in the Top 4 as the best Hungarian driver in the competition.”

2023 Hunakamo Drifting Pro2 Series champion Robert Horensky lost his Top 32 battle against last year’s 3rd placed pilot in Drifting Pro Series and qualification winner Michal Wojtan. The Polish driver’s competition ended in the Top 8 against Tamás Magyar. Róbert Petri – the best Hungarian driver in Hunakamo Drifting Pro Series 2023 – finished in the Top 16 after battling Pavel Hudecek.

After a crazy season starter at Slovakia Ring, the Hunakamo Drifting Pro Series schedule will be continued on 1st June with another 1-day race: this time in the cauldron of Máriapócs, RabócsiRing racetrack. The FIA CEZ competition will host the first round of the Czech Drift Series, so there will be no lack of talented Central European drivers!
